What is it?
Simply put, mindfulness is the practice of being present in the now. It helps us become aware of our thoughts and emotions as they’re happening, what we’re doing, and where we are. Although we all have the ability to be in-tune with our minds, our many modern-day distractions have made this simple task hard on us. Just like any other muscle, you need to exercise mindfulness to strengthen it and reap its numerous benefits.
The benefits of practicing mindfulness
Mindfulness can do your mind and body wonders! Some of its benefits include:
• Improving overall wellbeing.
• Relieving stress and lowering blood pressure.
• Promoting focus.
• Boosting physical and mental health.
• Increasing self-awareness.
• Improving sleep.
So, how can you actually practice mindfulness and reap all of its benefits?
Turning “mind full” to “mindful”
Just like any other practice, mindfulness comes in many types and forms. Some seek meditation. Others opt for urge surfing. Regardless, all of these exercises circle around the same basic goal: being present here and now.
