Delicious Coffee Alternatives & Their Recipes!

Nothing gets us through the long work days like a deliciously warm cup of coffee. But no matter how much we like it, coffee comes with some disadvantages. While it’s the second-most consumed beverage around the world, some people just can’t drink it, don’t like it, or are looking for an alternative that comes without the afternoon jittering!

So, we’ve decided to compile three easy alternatives that will help support your energy levels and offer you even more benefits than coffee!

Matcha Tea
Matcha Tea is a type of green tea that is made with the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis. It’s loaded with antioxidants and lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes! Here’s all you need to do to make 1 cup of matcha tea.

Directions:
• Sift 1-2 tsps of matcha powder into a bowl
• Add hot water (71-77 ℃)
• Stir well

Note: You can also toss in a cup of steamed milk (or other alternatives) to make a creamy matcha tea latte.

Golden Milk
This milk-based drink comes loaded with powerful anti-inflammatory spices and antioxidants!

Ingredients:
• 1 cup of milk (or non-dairy alternative)
• ½ tsp of ground turmeric
• ¼ tsp of cinnamon
• ⅛ tsp of ground ginger
• 1 pinch of black pepper
• Honey to taste

Directions:
• Mix all the ingredients in a saucepan
• Warm up on low to medium heat and stir frequently to avoid burning the mix
• Once warm, serve and enjoy!

Herbal Coffee
Thanks to its many plant-based ingredients, herbal coffee is a great coffee alternative that offers you all the advantages while sifting the cons!

Ingredients:
• 1 part dried roasted dandelion
• 1 part dried roasted chicory
• ½ part dried burdock root
• ¼ part dried maca powder
• ¼ part dried raw cacao powder and/or cacao nibs (optional, see Note)
• ⅛ part dried astragalus
Servings
• About 3 cups if you’re using cups for parts.
• 1 cup if you’re using teaspoons.

Directions:
• Mix all of the herbs by hand until they become a homogenous blend
• Use 2 to 3 teaspoons of the coffee blend for each cup of boiling water
• Place the herbs in a jar and add the boiling water
• Cover and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes
• Strain and enjoy!

Note: You can also drink it cold! Just let it steep at room temperature, and then put it in the fridge to chill.
