1- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
We can’t stress this enough. Hydration is key for healthy, smooth skin. Give yourself a target of 8 glasses of water per day, and some more if you work out. Don’t wait to feel thirsty to reach for your glass, keep it flowing throughout the day.
2- The sun is not your friend.
Ultraviolet rays are your skin’s worst enemy. When you expose yourself too much to direct sunlight (even when it’s cloudy) you’re damaging your skin, so try to keep sun exposure to a minimum. But what’s the solution for when you do choose to stay in the sun? Sunscreen! Lather it on your exposed skin and get yourself a good pair of sunglasses and a nice hat to reduce the damage.
3- Moisturizing is caring.
You should always moisturize directly after a face wash. Soap, cleansers and even hot water will dry out your skin. Our tip is to keep your moisturizer of choice next to your sink or shower, so you won’t ever forget to get all that hydration back into your skin.
4- Food is crucial.
Your skin will reflect what and how you are eating. Processed foods that contain lots of trans-fats and sugars will wreak havoc on your face. Healthy fats (think avocados and walnuts) and green tea, for example, will refresh your skin. It’s all about knowing what you put into your body!
5- Sleep is not for the weak.
A full night of sleep is another key factor for nice and fresh skin. 7 to 8 hours will work for most people. Try to create a routine by waking up and going to bed at approximately the same hour every day, and avoid screens too late at night to let your mind rest more easily.
6- Work it out.
Exercising not only nourishes and sends more oxygen to your skin, it also cleanses it through sweat. When your body sweats, all the bacteria, oil and dirt get expelled out of the skin. You don’t even need to spend hours at the gym to see results; a 20-minute walk or treadmill session is already a way to kickstart the process. After a good sweat, your next move should be a gentle skin wash so that your skin doesn’t absorb all the dirt back in.
7- Stress is a big no-no.
Stress hormones are a nightmare for your skin. Try meditating, doing yoga, socializing or even calling a friend as ways to destress. Cut out whatever causes you stress as much as possible, for the sake and quality of your skin.
Here are our easy and super simple tips you can try to get clearer, healthier skin. Now time to try them out!
